We visited the Saint Stephen's Nunnery (the Holy Monastery of Agios Stefanos) and a hidden gem - the byzantine church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary. It is astounding that this precious holy place remains somewhat under the radar and in the shadow of monasteries hovering above. The artwork and frescoes are beautiful and unique and the whole effect of the church is magical. A truly hidden gem and the most spectacular part of a sunset tour of Meteora. Of course, watching a magnificent sunset made for the perfect end to a perfect day.

Beautiful scenery and friendly, knowledgeable guides. Be prepared to walk a few flights of stairs to reach the monasteries!
