The second day, I took the hiking tour. I was with my teenagers, and honestly it's not that hard of a hike. But the views... wow... Among the most amazing views I had in my life. We were (me and my kids) alone with the guide, so we had a very personalized tour. The hiking tour allows to see things you wouldn't see otherwise. It was GREAT we loved it.

The food was expensive and pretty basic. Discovering that the food was not included in the visit was not very nice. It is these kind of situation were you read the conditions of a trip and when you are offer a promotion with special price, you assume that this was included and it is not.

This was an amazing experience! I'm so glad I did this day trip from Athens! I took so many breath taking pictures! Just incredible!

If I come there for the 2nd time I will now few lifehacks by myself already (how to access some monasteries by going down the hill, not climbing, for exammple), which offer more mystical atmosphere and which can be looked at simply from outside to avoid touristical crowds. Unfortunately forgot the tour guide’s name - he moved to Kalambaka from Canada.

Plenty of stops at locations to take spectacular photos and to visit three monasteries (including museums where monks display important relics).

Be prepared for lots of stairs 🙂
