1 day Meteora Tour from Thessaloniki by Train

The information provided by our Guide (Mrs Ria) was detailed but interesting and amusing. She provided information not only on the Monasteries but on the geological history and the greated Meteora area as well.

I have very bad knees and I still gave the tour a 5 star rating. Two of the tours were much better for me to handle. Don't miss this one!

Guide was absolutely lovely girl who knows how to interact with people, perfect bus driver and of course incredible Meteors.

The sunset is always approximate but it was enjoyable to sit around and see these fabulous mountains - between heaven and earth. All was easy and well arranged.

my family and i took the afternoon tour and enjoyed it very much. the guide was excellent, very informative, friendly and kind. we go to see the area and go... read more into one Monastery and an old church. the sunset was amazing! views are beutiful. the pickup was exactly on time, the bus was cosy and even had wifi (!!) the tour ended quite late so that should be taken into account. this is a really great way to see the magically meteora!

You must do this if you are staying a few days in Athens!

Family trip. Excellent guide. Pictures dont do it justice. Hotel was comfortable. A highlight of our trip.

Dimitris was our private guide for the afternoon. He was very knowledgeable and professional. We could not have asked for a better experience. Amazing! This was a super long day of travel but we’ll worth it, and splurge on the private driver. After being on a train for 4 hours it was delightful... read more to have our own driver, made a quick stop at a little cafe (clean bathroom) then headed up to the monasteries. Learned a lot and got to go inside 4 of the 6 monasteries as we went through them quickly. (Apparently there’s always one closed each day). Enjoyed the private driver so we were able to go at our own pace and walk through between bus loads of people. Had a relaxed meal at a local restaurant before heading back to the train. Highly recommend, haven’t see anything like this elsewhere. Men were allowed in with shorts that covered their knees, women were offered wraps if they weren’t wearing modest skirts or shoulders were bare (sometimes just depends at who is selling tickets.) I wore a calf length dress with shoulders covered and was allowed entry. The sights are amazing, go see Meteora, it’s well worth it!
Figure out metro ahead of time when you get back to Athens, taxis charging 3X the amount they were earlier in the day.

I took both the morning and evening tours and would recommend them both. The area is majestic and the two tour guides could not have been more accommodatig and helpful.

Beautiful scenery and friendly, knowledgeable guides. Be prepared to walk a few flights of stairs to reach the monasteries!

The trip from Athen was tiring but worth it. Our tour guide was nice, I recommend it to others as well.
