2 days Meteora Tour from Thessaloniki by Train

It really is spectacular to see the sunset behind the rocks. They picked up and dropped off at my hotel which was really convenient.

The family and I headed up from Athens for a day trip. The train was canceled due to the major train accident, but Meteora Thrones reaccommodated via a coach... read more bus. The bus was a bit cramped, but all in all, we are glad they reaccommodated.

The monasteries were truly spectacular. And our tour guide, Antonio, was absolutely fantastic. He was as kind as could be, and he was so passionate about the history of the monasteries. He was also passionate about the Kalabaki where he lived. He seemingly knew everything there was to know about the area. It was great. We stopped at two monasteries and the hermit caves, all the while learning something new from Antonio and marveling at the architecture. We would recommend Antonio to anyone touring the area.

This was an excellent tour with a great guide and driver. There was plenty of time to see the monasteries and the church.

Local travel agent was excellent going beyond what was expected to make sure I finally joined my tour after a harrowing experience getting to my destination. I could not... read more access my train tickets on the email sent to me by TripAdvisor so I had to buy my own tickets which got me to the destination 90 minutes after my tour started. Thank you to Chris at the local travel agency in Kalambaka who drove me up the mountain to join my tour so I only missed one monastery. Tour was excellent, great explanations of this unique area.

Excellent trip. I tried to find the cheapest way to get to Meteora with my wife, but from the distance from Meteora from Athens it made the most sense booking... read more with this company. Renting a car would have been too much of a hassle as we only planned to visit Meteora and get back and our airbnb based in the center of Athens didn't even have parking therefore car would have been to exhausting of a drive and expense to rent. Especially trip taking 4 to 5 hours driving. Company instructions was very easy to follow and we learned a lot from our guide. I recommend this method and company as the best way to reach Meteora, especially if your only planning to be there for a day.

We had a private tour of one of the monasteries which was very interesting and then had a time for a great lunch with a wonderful view without any tourists before taking our train back to Athenes the same day.
Over all a great experience and a beautiful site to visit.
