Great visit, excellent customer service - Best customer service they gave us. We reached Kalambaka an hour later than the scheduled tour time due to a mistake in our train booking, confusion with Larissa and Athens... read more Larissa main train station.
They sent their mini bus to pick us up from their office at the foothill and continue to join with the tour.
Both the driver and our tour guide was super friendly, driver made few photo shoot stops for us and bit of guided commentary on the monasteries and guide was very knowledgeable of Meteora's history and geological past.
We would highly recommend Metora Thrones if you are making your vacation plans.

This has to be the best way to do a guided tour of Meteora. My wife and I are traveling the world and don’t do a lot of touristy group... read more activities but we only had a few days in Athens and Meteora Thrones made the experience very easy. Everything is booked for you and went according to the description. It’s a long train ride from Athens and that train is packed, no wifi and little service, so be sure to prepare for that. We were greeted by our guide at the train station and she was amazing. Personable, energetic and very knowledgeable. Please tip your guide if you have good service, we were the only people in our group to tip. As a rock climber, I’ve wanted to see Meteora for years and the views were better than the anticipation. We’re in our 30’s and active so we thought the walk/stair climbing was easy but some monasteries may be difficult for people with conditioning issues. Reviews said the monasteries accept credit card, but not really, we only entered 2/3 due to this so bring cash. One monastery let us pay by card in the souvenir shop. Unfortunately we missed Great Meteoron on a Friday due to a holiday prep, it’s usually open every day but Tuesday. If there are particular monasteries you want to see, check their schedule. IMO, each monastery has a different view and experience, worth going to each one. If you’re going to Meteora with a tour guide company, go with Meteora Thrones, they make the full day trip from Athens as easy and stress free as it could be. We left our apartment in Athens at 7 am and got home 11 pm. Sometimes the trains run late but best to be there 15 mins early.

We had a private tour of one of the monasteries which was very interesting and then had a time for a great lunch with a wonderful view without any tourists before taking our train back to Athenes the same day.
Over all a great experience and a beautiful site to visit.

I highly recommend this tour company!

The Meteora Thrones travel company were a great team. Prompt on schedule, with immaculate timing between monasteries.
Guide Yannis was a cool chap, with a good sense of humour,... read more and a decent array of facts about the area.
Approximately 3-4 hours total time.
Would recommend this trip to others.

Our tour to Meteora was amazing. I think it was the place I enjoyed the most in Greece land. some weeks ago I had to change the type of tour... read more for personal reasons and meteora thrones was kind enough to change it pretty immediately and refund me the money of the first one. On the other hand, our guide, Sara, told as a lot of good information and in a dynamic and quite way (not as a radio, if you know what I mean) 😉 she was very sweet and clear. I would definitely recommend this agency and the place to everyone visiting.

Amazing adventure! Train depart around 8am morning from Athens, it’s around 4 hours journey. There is small snack and coffee shop in a train. After we arrived in Kalambaka around... read more 12 our lovely tour guide Ria was waiting for us. The car we did sightseeing was with ac, very comfortable. She had also water for us. As we decided not to take a break before sightseeing we went straight into Kastraki village to start the sightseeing. Ria was extremely polite, she told us absolutely everything and more than we could ever learn about place, history, monasteries and monks. She had a great knowledge, good positive vibe and patients to make us millions of pictures. Private tour was more convenient for us we didn’t have to wait for others, if we wanted to stop for pictures we did. We took our time in visiting monasteries without any time/ other people pressure. After all Ria has took us for lunch in a lovely traditional restaurant because we eat local when we travel. And around 6 pm we departed back to Athens. Make sure u book your trip ahead, might be not available last moment. Also way back is little bit tiring, train had some traffic delays so I took us more than 5 hours so I would recommend (if you have time) to stay a night in Kalambaka and go back next day. The level of hiking to monasteries is moderate, but if you do it slowly and have water with you, it will be okay.

Rhea was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the area, and was very flexible to adjust the tour to our needs. We were four of us so they gave... read more us a van to ourselves. It was a once in a life experience to visit these monastries in the heavens.
We grabbed breafast at the Larissa station before we headed out, had lunch when we got there and there was time to grab a small snack before heading back. We had booked for first class but did not get it, so we had regular coach tickets. We were a bit anxious when we looked at our seat numbers because they were not sequential. Don't worry because of the crazy numbering in the trains, the seats were actually together.
Rhea took us to three main monastries where we spent close to an hour each but also covered many more of the monastries - stopping by on some great picture spots to take some amaing pics. Time just went by so quickly. You do get some time to rest ast some amazing, quiet and meditative spots in the monastries. Lots of steps so travel light and carry cash. Every monastry charges an entrance fee (3euro/person) and they don't take cards.
